Terms and conditions governing your use of citywidemoving.com and Citywide Moving Systems services.
Last Updated: March 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the website citywidemoving.com (the "Site") and the moving and storage services provided by Citywide Moving Systems, Inc. ("Citywide," "we," "us," or "our"), a North Carolina corporation with offices in Charlotte and Monroe, NC.
By accessing our Site or engaging our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our Site or services.

- Local moving within the Charlotte metropolitan area and surrounding counties
- Long-distance and interstate moving (US DOT 859309, ICC MC 378914, NCUC 2235)
- Commercial and office relocation
- Apartment moving
- Piano and specialty item moving
- Climate-controlled storage at our Monroe, NC facility
- Packing and unpacking services
2. Estimates and Pricing
Local Moves: Local moves are typically priced on an hourly basis, plus applicable travel and materials charges. The estimate provided is based on the information you supply regarding the scope of the move. Actual charges may vary depending on the time required.
Long-Distance Moves: Interstate moves are priced based on shipment weight and distance, in accordance with our published tariff. We provide binding estimates when requested; a binding estimate means the quoted price is the price you pay, provided the shipment matches the description in the estimate.
Estimates Are Not Guarantees: Non-binding estimates are our best assessment based on the information provided. If the actual scope of your move differs materially from what was described (additional items, access issues not disclosed, etc.), the final charge may differ from the estimate.
3. Scheduling and Cancellation
Once a moving date is confirmed, we reserve crew, equipment, and truck capacity for your move. We ask for the following courtesies:
- Provide at least 48 hours' notice if you need to reschedule your move
- Cancellations made less than 48 hours before the scheduled move may incur a cancellation fee
- We will make reasonable efforts to accommodate schedule changes, subject to availability
4. Customer Responsibilities
To ensure a smooth move, you agree to:
- Provide accurate information about the items to be moved, including specialty items, fragile items, and items of extraordinary value
- Disclose any access challenges at both origin and destination (narrow stairs, long carries, elevator restrictions, parking limitations, HOA rules)
- Ensure clear pathways for our crew at both locations
- Be present (or have an authorized representative present) at both the origin and destination during loading and unloading
- Secure items of extraordinary value (jewelry, cash, important documents, medication) in your personal possession; these should not be placed on the truck
- Disclose any items that are hazardous, flammable, explosive, or otherwise prohibited from transport
5. Liability and Valuation Protection
Basic Coverage (Included): Under federal law, our basic liability coverage provides protection at $0.60 per pound per article. This is included at no additional charge on all moves.
Full-Value Protection (Optional): For an additional charge, you may select Full-Value Protection, which requires us to repair, replace, or provide a cash settlement for items that are lost or damaged during your move, based on the current market replacement value.
Claims: Any claim for loss or damage must be filed in writing within 9 months of delivery for interstate moves. We will acknowledge your claim within 30 days and provide a disposition within 120 days.
6. Prohibited Items
For the safety of our crew and your belongings, we cannot transport:
- Hazardous materials (paint, chemicals, propane, gasoline, cleaning solvents)
- Firearms and ammunition
- Explosives and flammable materials
- Perishable food items (for long-distance moves)
- Live plants (for interstate moves, due to agricultural regulations)
- Pets and live animals
7. Storage Terms
If you use our storage services, the following terms apply:
- Storage fees are billed monthly in advance
- A detailed inventory is created at the time items are placed in storage
- You may request access to your stored items by scheduling a visit with our office
- Items placed in storage must be free of hazardous materials, perishable goods, and illegal substances
- Citywide is not responsible for damage caused by pests, pre-existing conditions, or inherent defects in stored items
- If storage fees remain unpaid for 60 or more days, we may exercise our lien rights under North Carolina law (N.C.G.S. Chapter 44A)
8. Payment Terms
Local Moves: Payment is due upon completion of the move. We accept cash, check, and major credit cards.
Long-Distance Moves: Payment terms are outlined in your Bill of Lading. A deposit may be required at the time of booking. Balance is due upon delivery unless other arrangements have been made in writing.
Late Payments: Unpaid balances may accrue interest at the rate of 1.5% per month or the maximum rate permitted by North Carolina law, whichever is less.
