Tips for a Stress-Free Local Move

Start Early, Even for Short Moves
Even if you're only moving a few miles, give yourself at least two weeks to sort, declutter, and pack. A local move still involves the same amount of stuff — the only thing shorter is the drive.
Label Boxes by Room and Priority
Use colored tape or markers to label each box with the destination room and a priority level. Boxes marked 'first night' should contain bedding, toiletries, phone chargers, and a change of clothes.
Take Photos of Your Electronics
Before disconnecting your TV, computer, or stereo, snap a photo of the cable setup. When it's time to reconnect at your new place, you'll thank yourself.
Notify Utilities Two Weeks Ahead
Contact Duke Energy, Piedmont Natural Gas, Charlotte Water, and your internet provider at least 14 days before your move. Schedule disconnection and reconnection so you walk into a fully functional home.
Communicate with Your Moving Crew
Tell us about narrow hallways, steep driveways, low-hanging branches, or anything else that might affect the move. The more we know upfront, the better we can plan.
Keep Valuables with You
Important documents, jewelry, medications, and irreplaceable items should travel with you on moving day — not on the truck. Pack a personal essentials bag and keep it in your car.
