Tight Spaces?
No Problem.
Narrow hallways, service elevators, and tricky staircases are what our crews train for. We measure, plan, and execute apartment moves with care and precision.
Why Apartment Moves
Need Experienced Movers
Moving out of (or into) an apartment comes with a unique set of challenges that a typical move doesn't. There are building rules about elevator reservations and loading dock schedules. Hallways are narrow. Stairwells have tight turns. Your landlord expects the common areas to stay spotless. And your lease deadline means there's no room for delays.
Citywide Moving Systems has been navigating Charlotte's apartment complexes, condos, and high-rises since 1994. Our crews know how to measure doorways ahead of time, reserve service elevators, protect lobby floors with masonite boards, and keep your move on schedule regardless of what floor you're on.
Whether you're moving from a studio in South End to a two-bedroom in NoDa, or relocating from an apartment to your first home in Indian Trail, we handle the logistics so you can focus on starting your next chapter.
What Your Apartment Move Includes
Pre-Move Measurement
Before moving day, we measure doorways, hallways, and stairwells to plan the best route for your furniture. No surprises, no stuck couches.
Elevator Coordination
We work with your building management to reserve the service elevator and coordinate loading dock access on your scheduled moving day.
Common Area Protection
Masonite boards, corner guards, and floor runners protect your building's hallways, elevators, and lobbies from any damage during the move.
Furniture Disassembly
Bed frames, desks, bookshelves, and large items are carefully disassembled for transport and reassembled at your new location.
Labeled Box System
We use a color-coded labeling system that marks every box by room and priority. This means faster unpacking and nothing ends up in the wrong room.
Flexible Lease Timing
We know apartment leases don't wait. We offer same-day, weekend, and end-of-month availability to meet your move-out deadline.
Apartment Moving Tips from the Pros
These tips come from 30 years of moving Charlotte apartment dwellers. Follow them and your move will go much smoother.
Measure Your Doors and Hallways
Before moving day, measure the width and height of every doorway and hallway in both your current and new apartment. Write them down. If your couch won't fit through the front door, we need to know that before the truck arrives — not after. This single step prevents more delays than any other.
Start Packing Two Weeks Early
Even a small apartment has more stuff than you think. Start packing non-essential items like books, decorations, and out-of-season clothes at least two weeks before your move. Save everyday essentials for the last day. Packing a little each night is far less stressful than a marathon session.
Label Every Box — All Four Sides
Don't just label the top. When boxes are stacked, you can't see the top. Write the destination room and a brief contents list on all four sides. Use colored tape to match rooms: blue for bedroom, red for kitchen, green for bathroom. Our crew will place them instantly.
Pack an Essentials Bag
Fill a backpack or duffel with everything you'll need the first night: phone charger, toiletries, medications, a change of clothes, clean sheets, toilet paper, paper towels, basic cleaning supplies, and a few trash bags. Keep this bag with you — not on the truck.
Photograph Your Electronics Setup
Take a photo of the back of your TV, router, game console, and computer before disconnecting anything. When it's time to reconnect at the new apartment, you won't be guessing which cable goes where. Put cables in labeled zip-lock bags.
Communicate Building Rules to Us
Every apartment complex has different rules for moving: specific elevator times, loading dock reservations, hallway protection requirements, parking restrictions. Share these with us when you schedule your move and we'll handle the rest.
Every Apartment, Every Floor
Studios & Efficiencies
Even a small move deserves professional care. We handle studios quickly and efficiently, often completing the entire move in just a few hours.
Mid-Rise & Walk-Ups
Second floor, third floor, no elevator — no problem. Our crews are conditioned for stairway moves and use specialized straps and dollies to keep things safe and fast.
High-Rise & Luxury Condos
Service elevator coordination, loading dock scheduling, and lobby protection are all part of the plan. We treat luxury buildings with the attention they require.
